  4. Donna says:

One more day of appointments and then I should be in the clear for awhile. Back squats tomorrow!

Meme – HQ just keeps throwing that lumbar extension in our face. When will it end?! I guess it’s time to just make our bodies bend that way.

If I can’t get in tomorrow I will be doing the double WOD’s on Friday for sure.

  5. Melinda says:

Slump: I think taking a day or a few days off helps me. Or, just keep on pushing through it each day realizing that even though PRs won’t be set, I’m still doing something good for my body and mind by exercising. There’s my .02

    • fitmomx3 says:

thanks Mel..I am neck deep in a slump right now!

      • Melinda says:

you’ve got injury recovery thrown in the mix as well, you’ll come out strong on the other side

giddy up with rx’d “Fran”, totally thought of that this am, hope I’m not in a slump when that suckah comes up again! :)

I agree with Mel and Pam, Kimmie. Winter is just plain hard and January/February are tough ~ cold, not a lot of sunshine, dark very early and too many clothes to wear! In addition to your shoulder rehab, you also are at CFP everyday. Maybe you just need a little break…I bet Pam, Carrie, possibly Tommy V. or Caleb would be willing to open CFP so you can give yourself permission to stay home say one day/week… Just a thought.

When I get in a workout slump I remind myself that no one else can do the exercise for me and hand the benefits over – I have to do the work. It only takes a few minutes after walking into CFP’s door to feel the energy of such a great group of motivated, supportive people. Turning my focus to cheering for them gets me ramped up to tackle the WOD. Accomplishing it after starting the day with self-doubt is a very good feeling ~ physically and mentally.

  6. Jill C. says:

I am going on a field trip with 4th graders to the Capitol so will miss all the fun. I was excited that it is a wod I can do! Maybe I can do 2 on Friday with you Donna.

Kathy- miss seein your smiling face !
    p.s. I rowed 2500 today

    • Kathy C says:

Thanks, Jill-EEE, miss you too – nice job on the row and have fun at the Capitol!! Hope your shoulder is mending well & please give my best to Michelle, too!!

Work out slumps, we all get them. Especially thrown in with the January blues…cold weather, being stuck inside, dark at 5:15!! YUCK!!
I find that getting in is the first step; I always feel better after I have left; the people that make up our morning crew always perk me up; we have a great bunch of women (and men when they decide to make a guest appearance!)….WODDING together, going through the same pain and sweat as those around you, and some great music playing, always does the trick for me! But more technically speaking, mixing things up is what you need to do. For me, I like to do my “thong” class on Thursdays that everyone laughs about; just a solid hour of sweating with great music; for someone else, maybe its trying at at home yoga tape or a yoga class, or maybe it is going for a nice long run after doing backsquats or doing sprints in the parking lot. Work on a skill that you haven’t accomplished yet; double unders, HSPUs,….. work on it, and MASTER it; you will have a great feeling of accomplishment and feel great about it the next time it comes up in a WOD, and mentally it will help with your workout “slump”!
Kimmie, should I teach a Zumba class at CFP? Or perhaps belly dancing? That would add a nice mix to things heh, and certainly a few laughs!!!!!!

  8. Caleb says:

I guess im in one of those slumps. Im going to do my back squats today and then come tonight to cfp and do that ghd + double under wod from a while ago. not sure what else I can do that doesnt involve grip strength.

  9. jodi blyler says:

Hey fellow slumpers…..can I join. It is so painful to look at my log book knowing I can’t lift shit at this point. What I keep telling myself is….if I pick up that bar (regardless of the weight on it) and it FEELS (tuning into ur body) heavy……guess what? My ego suffers a wee bit but I still know I am getting a kickass workout. I empathize with my fellow slumpers, but if we didn’t have these slump times we would have nothing to compare it to during our bad ass days. It’ll come!
To all the peeps p.r.ing…….way to go. I only know of Lisa’s back squat. Nicely done. I’ll be slumpin’ around this weekend at cfp. Hope to see you all. I need to tally up my rowing too

  10. fitmomx3 says:

Thanks everyone for your insight….it’s actually comforting to hear others go through similar paths.

    :) XO, Kim

  11. Pam McGraw says:

Pole dancing?? Hmmmm……..I need to think about that one. Not sure I want to share my skills with everyone, I am very good at it.
    (Of course I’m joking)…..

Tackled the backsquats all by my lonesome b4 class this a.m.; it was lonely but glad I don’t have to make it up.

    115, 125, 145, 150, 155, 160, 165.
Thought 165 was a PR until i got home and checked my book….i don’t know though if i could have gotten the depth needed to get 170.

Missed everyone today but see everyone in the a.m. Is it me or has this been the longest week ever; today should be FRIDAY!!!

    • Kathy C says:

I got a way to mix things up, P-Ma-G… how bout some BINGO? I think we will be tackling that together tomorrow night?…(saw your name on the confirm… don’t forget the Pall Malls and the hair rollers….) 8)

  12. Pam McGraw says:

Caleb, you can do Zumba or belly dancing for time. …thats very easy on the hands; you just have to be careful with the arm flailing once you get going and get into it….

  13. Cindy says:

Made up the 1 rep max ditty today.

Clean – 115 (down 15 pounds). Just too sore to move the weight.

    Bench – 110 (down 5 pounds)

OHS – 115 (too weak to jerk anymore over my head) – think if i could jerk it body weight (before preggers) would be obtainable.

    SLUMP Central.

All i have to say, is its about time you are in a slump Kimmie. You have been going hard for over a year now. Since you qualified back in May 09, and went to the games in July, you still managed to go hard after all of that. Now that is admirable. Lets also not forget that you toughed all of this out with an injury. Personally, I think slumps make you a better athlete because you mental have to pull yourself out of it.. So roll with the slump, it will be over soon… love ya.

  14. Carrie Bowman says:

Not sure I am in a slump but I am in a definite “mood”. I think it is a combination of the weather, time of year and the back injury. Nursing a wound is not fun and it is mentally challenging at times to stay positive and focused.
Also agree with Pam and Meme. I am all about mixing it up. Your Moms point makes sense. You need a break every now and then from going in EVERY am to open. You need a little mixing up!

You all know I am all about the pole dancing! I’ll co-teach with Pam!
I did my own thing in the “cold” room. Rowed 500 M(Kathy I got 2500 M yesterday and another 3000M today), single rope jumps, box jumps (but I stepped up for each one). 6 rounds.

See everyone in the am. Also agree that it the people and energy from CFP that keeps me going when I am in a rut…..

  15. Melinda says:

Nice to see you again Cindy.
STRONG efforts from everyone this am, fun working with you Eileen, Adele & Melissa. Thanks everyone for my much needed form checks, once I got a better handle on the bar not sliding down my back so much, things went ok. Got a 185 PR, however it needed a tad more depth.
Miss having you in ‘the mix’ Carrie but glad that you are taking care of your back and getting in to do your own thing.
Should be an interesting 18 minutes tomorrow!
Gotta go, have the worst headache………………

    • Mom says:

Are you ready for the wall Mel?!?

      • Melinda says:

Giddy up! How many times do you think I can practice kicking up to a HS in 10 minutes??
We can flail around right next to each other, lol. :)
