Day 2 in our CrossFit Cycle.
It’s 5am and lookin’ just fine…going to brush my fangs and head to CFP. To be clear, Kim WILL NOT be at CFP from 8:45-11am.
HOUSEKEEPING: The treadmill. After much thought and talking to Tom here is the deal. When (and I have no time line to give my friends) the new belt goes on CFP is OFF THE HOOK. Anyone that uses the treadmill will be responsible for repairs to it (1 person uses it they order and cough up the parts~ 2 people use it the cost gets split 2 ways…get my drift?). I know I sound like a skipping CD, but the $100 I put into it could have gone towards new jump ropes (some of the old ones are DEADLY with the wire) or another 14# Dynamax Ball. A treadmill is a “luxury” so to speak..yup, it’s nice to have when it downpours or snows, but it certainly is not essential. Hit the tar mac (sp?) if you don’t want to risk being held liable for repair costs.

MCGRAW!!!! You may not be feeling 100%, but your squat depth was fabuloso every rep! I agree you could have gone a little heavier, but you kept great form and you can continue to increase your load safely. Well executed!

No matter what, Laura is quite an athlete. We were neck in neck on the long run in Aromas and she kicked in the last 200m to go ahead of me. She wound up in the “Sweet 16″ among female competitors.

OK~ G’bury has already announced cancellation for school on 2/10. UGH!
In case some do make the effort to go in early: (3) 20# balls (although I have one at home right now in case I am chicken to go out early AM..I HATE driving if it’s dumping snow), (2) 14# balls, and (4) 10# balls (1 is the bouncier med ball but toss it against the wall where the squat racks are..aim for the top of the wall where the natural wood 2×4′s are so the ball bounces off the wood and not into the loft area! Be ready to scale up or down or wait if the ball you want is not available.

I remember you talking about Laura DeMarco Kimmie ~ My first thought, is she really going to lift 370#?? And she walked to the bar and picked it up. Period. Form wise, her back was very rounded.
yup, it is rounded. What is your opinion on that?
Don’t bother with the lift with the rounded back?
It was a 1 rep max so go for it…”Balls to the wall”?
Don’t put a video like that on the mainsite as there are many novices that may try to mimic the lift and with inexperience do a lot of damage to their back?

Didn’t even have the main site on my mind when I commented, only CFP’s post….Since Laura is an elite athlete, I have to believe she wouldn’t sacrifice form with multiple reps for time. Doing a 1RM, go for it girl! And she did ~ awesome! Pam made a good point about posting a disclaimer.

nope, i actually feel even more congested, if thats even possible? In a quandry as to what to take; hate taking cold meds because they dry me out, but i can’t breathe when i don’t take them!! what to do? Jodi, have any good remedies for me?

Just watched the video, I sure wouldn’t lift with my back rounded like that, ouch. She also grabbed the bar with bent legs, but I maybe that’s getting too picky.
Early am wall balls, not to mention grabbing a pull up bar again, ugh. I’ll see how fast the snow is falling at the a$$ crack of dawn, my car is kinda sucky in the snow.

Just watched the deadlift video finally. Holy barbells; for a little thing she can sure move the weight; however, her back was way rounded….and definitely not textbook form!! As far as putting it on the website, you know something like that is going to be put out there by the sheer fact of what she accomplished; as long as “novices” know not to mimic her form hopefully all their bases are covered; “Watch at your own Risk and don’t try this at home”!!

I thought for sure I would be in too. Got involved in household stuff and stayed up kinda late. I also thought it would be snowing much earlier, that’s what I get for paying attention to the hourly weather.com!! My hammies are pretty useless too, can’t straighten my legs while sitting, it was interesting loading furniture yesterday.
I may try to sub this at home, can do thrusters and maybe some kind of towel pull up, I can’t do L-pu’s anyways.

Sorry Kim – had every intention of going this morning to get this WOD in until of course I rolled over and it was 9:18. Haven’t slept that late in I don’t know how long!! Felt great but hamstrings and abs are still screaming. I plan on making this one up on the next rest day (Fri) especially since it has my favorite (NOT) wall balls.
Where the heck is the snow?! My kids faces are plastered to the slider with gloves in hand waiting to go sledding.

Instead I tried one of the workouts from my hubby’s new “P90X” workout tapes; I did the one hour “Plyometrics” DVD. It was definitely a good workout; what i found refreshing was the pace; it was challenging, but with CrossFit we are so used to going balls to the wall, everything for time, etc. etc., that this was challenging but nicely paced; hard to explain. I will have to try some of the other tapes; good option when you are home in a non-existent snow storm (hello?? I’m with you Berger, my kids are climbing the walls!)

I woke up at 4:30AM and looked outside. No snow. So I (incorrectly) figured Coach would go in later, girls in tow. I went back to sleep and got up just before 8AM ~ zzzzzzzzzzz
