CrossFit is a fitness program designed to help any person, of any age or athletic ability achieve a higher level of fitness. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. The CrossFit program uses a wide range of functional (multi-joint) movements, performed at high intensity.

Designed for universal scalability (We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs), CrossFit is an ideal system for any individual to improve their fitness level regardless of experience.

CrossFit was designed to improve efficiency in 10 fitness domains: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. To achieve these results, CrossFit workouts typically call for athletes to work hard and fast, often with minimal rest.

In our system each athlete is encouraged to measure results (time, count, and or weight), and track progress. Because there is a wide variety of Workouts (also known as WODs or Workouts Of the Day), it’s common that a workout might not be repeated for 3 to 6 months.

CrossFit is designed to avoid routine, and to continually provide a new and fresh challenge.

What you can expect:

A complete CrossFit workout session generally last for about 1 hour, and can be broken down as follows:

  • Warm Up (about 15 minutes). Includes light stretching, squats, sit-ups, back-extensions, and calisthenics. For most beginners, the warmup is strenuous for the first month.
  • Work Out of the Day (WOD). (5 – 30 minutes). This workout will generally include some combination of running, weightlifting, kettlebells, pull-ups, rowing, and/or calisthenics exercises. CrossFit may call on athletes to run, row, climb ropes, jump up on boxes, or bounce medicine balls against a target on a wall. Many workout are done “for time”.
  • Warm-Down. (about 15 minutes). Individual time to work on technique, or areas of focus. This might include for example jumping rope, lifting technique or kettlebells.

CrossFit took the cobwebs out of working out. The standard step mill, classes, working isolated body parts started to produce sub standard results.

In a nut shell our bodies and minds were bored. CrossFit has brought us back to basic movements that are certain to leave you as “gassed” and invigorated as us!

As Christmas gift to each other, Russ and I decided to invest in CrossFit friendly equipment-dynamax balls (weight ranging from 10-20 pounds, squat stands, kettle bells, rings, pull up bars, flat bench, dumbells, C2 rower, different size barbells, and plyo boxes.

WHAT FUN FOR US!! We have become entrenched in the CrossFit way of life~our sport is the sport of fitness! We invite you to join us in our quest to bring basics and success back to fitness using the CrossFit methodology.

Russ and I both earned our CrossFit Level 1 Certification to gain a better understanding of CrossFit Methodology, meet other CrossFitters, increase our depth of knowledge with the 9 basic movements along with added “Zone Diet” and body mechanics knowledge.

There are numerous other certifications to take part in. Russ and I will be taking part in a Power Lifting Certification the end of March.

We are hooked into the CrossFit way of working out and invite you to WOD with us~our WOD equipment is set up for us free of interruption and stipulations encountered at a traditional gym.

WOD stands for Workout of the Day.

Come in clothes that are comfortable to exercise in. In winter months if the driveway isn’t icy, we may be running outside! Be sure to bring water, a towel, and a”dig deep, my body can do this!” attitude.

The “Workout of the Day” is designed to target your fitness needs. If some days the WOD appears “easy” perhaps it’s because the cycle before or cycle coming up was/will be of the utmost challenge!

If you are currently training for a specific sport, balance your efforts to allow for continued success within your sport.

Do I need prior experience to be a Crossfitter?

No. We will help you get started and make sure you are executing exercises safely.

What should I expect when I attend training sessions?

We are friendly! If it’s your first time, a trainer and other crossfitters will take you under their wing and help you. We ALL remember what it was like when we first started to WOD!

If you choose to become an active member, your CrossFit experience and skills will differentiate you from the “globo” (generic, same old-same old) gym standards.

What should I bring and wear when I CrossFit?

Come in clothes that are comfortable to exercise in. For most this is T-shirt, shorts, Sweats, and proper footwear. Be sure to bring a water bottle and sweat towel.

How long does it take to warm up, WOD, and cool down?

It is not unreasonable for you to be able to warm up, WOD, and cool down within a 60 minute period. Please be advised that some WOD’s may take a bigger chunk of time while others a much smaller amount. Also, try practicing other skills after you WOD (double unders, ring dips, rowing technique).

I have a friend that is interested, but not sure about trying CrossFit. Can I bring him/her to watch during my training session?


I still have a pre-schooler at home with me. Can he/she come while I WOD?

Most certainly. Please remember, equipment is for your use, not your child to swing or hang on. Also, while you are WODing YOU ARE THE PRIORITY. If your child wants to show you a coloring creation I will tell him/her to wait until you are done. B

Do I always need to make an appointment to WOD at CrossFit Persevere?

Yes. It is necessary to make plans with Kim to be sure the time/equipment is available.
